Feb. 14, 9 am: Petersburg Camino-Style Urban Hike w/1st & 2nd Breakfasts
Details
Ever wondered what a morning on the Camino de Santiago is like — or maybe you know and want to experience it again? This 7-ish mile urban hike is designed to mimic a classic Camino day:
walk → eat → walk → eat again! (the best part of long-distance hiking 😄)
We’ll start in Old Towne Petersburg's Griffin Lounge, then walk a few blocks to Buttery Baking House for a first breakfast (or just coffee) before officially “leaving town.” Camino realism note: if Buttery is too crowded, we may enjoy their fabulous treats standing outside, just like on the Camino sometimes.
From there, we’ll settle into a moderate, conversational pace (about 17 min/mile) as we loop through Ettrick and Colonial Heights, passing around Virginia State University and historic Pocahontas Island. The route is mostly flat and primarily paved, with just enough greenery to keep things interesting. We’ll cross the Appomattox River twice on this circular route before ending right back where we started for second breakfast… or lunch… at Griffin Lounge. Think of it as a relaxed, exploratory walk with good conversation, good food, and a few little bits of history thrown in. Come for the walk, stay for the breakfasts, and enjoy a mini Camino.... No jet lag required!
