The John J. Radcliffe Conservation Area is situated just below the
Brasfield Dam in Chesterfield County, Virginia. This area encompasses 87 acres of rich ecosystems, including woodlands and swampland, which are home to a variety of wildlife. The conservation area features 1.5 miles of
trails and over 500 feet of elevated boardwalks, allowing visitors to
explore the natural beauty and observe various bird species, such as
spotted sandpipers, belted kingfishers, bald eagles, and ospreys.
The conservation area is rich in biodiversity, featuring a variety of tree species such as maple, sycamore, sweetgum, oak, ash, and pine. The diverse habitats support numerous bird species and other wildlife, making it a great spot for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers.
Wildlife is abundant in this diverse environment of maple, sycamore, sweetgum, oak, ash, and pine. There are 2.8 miles of trail and over 500 feet of elevated boardwalk through the property that provide visitors the opportunity for viewing woodpeckers, various forest songbirds, and migrating warblers in the spring and fall.

Before the hike be sure to place anything that might invite theft in your trunk before you leave your car parked while you are hiking.
Participants should be able to maintain a pace of 2.5 miles per hour. The terrain is rustic riverside trails. This is a dog friendly hike.
