June 6, 4:30pm - Beaver Lake Walk at Pocahontas!
Details
Join us for a peaceful and fun walk around Beaver Lake at Pocahontas State Park! The area around the lake is in full bloom and it’s a perfect time for a walk. During our stroll you will see the famous waterfall, flowers, birds and the lilli pads floating on the lake. We will also get good views of the water. There is also an interesting creek and board walk at the back end of the lake trail.
This hike will be at a normal walking pace with a distance of 2.5 miles. Most of the trail is under the trees so it should be a bit cooler. Overall the walk should take us 1.25-2 hours. This trail is moderate and has hills. It is not paved and involves many uneven areas with tree roots and gravel.
We will begin our walk at 4:30. There is a $10 parking fee per vehicle (not per person) on the weekends unless you have a pass. But wait…bonus….this event is back-to-back with the free concert at the park’s amphitheater featuring the Richmond Symphony which starts at 7:30. The concert is free! So for $10 you get a chance to meet new people, a beautiful nature walk and a concert (if you want to go).
The concert meetup is in a separate event post for those that don’t want to walk before hand. If you are attending this event there is no need to sign up for the concert event. The concert is just an extra bonus if you would like to go to it.
Where to meet: Meet us in front of the Nature Center. See picture on this event post.
Where to park: Best advice is to park in one of the two main parking lots and walk over to the Nature Center. They usually close the Nature Center parking lot for the concert so it may be closed by the time we get there. The main lots are nearby and you can easily walk to the Nature Center. Follow the main road past the gate for a long ways until the road ends at the parking lots.
Event Location: Pocahontas State Park (10301 State Park Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832)
