Important to know

We'll pack a lot of sights and sounds into this 3.5 mile hike. The good news is this is mostly an urban hike with minimum requirement to be able to ford a stream, or possess the ability to recognize toxic plants, negotiate rocks, roots, fallen trees, damp trail conditions, stairs, steep ascents, vines, low hanging branches, culverts, uncertain footing on hills, reptiles, spider webs, scorpions, birds of prey, or migratory waterfowl.

Meet on the front steps of the Chimborzo Medical Museum (see photo). It's near the intersection of 32nd Street and East Broad. We'll take a morning hike of approximately 3.5 miles from the site of Chimborazo Hospital through Church Hill to Libby Hill Park, Williansburg Rd and the Capital Trail. After we reach Rocketts Landing we'll pass through Gillie Creek Park and some of the lesser known trails on Chimborazo Hill to return to our starting point. Build some time into your schedule for a visit to the museum. If you are unfamiliar with the meet up location, add a few minutes to your travel schedule so you can find us.
If you don't have a clue about the location of Chimorazo Park, click on the arrow located just above and to he right of "How to Find Us" in the event description. An interactive map will be displayed and when "Directions" (on the left) is selected the best route from your current location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot will be revealed to you. Before the hike be sure to place anything that might invite theft in your trunk before you leave your car parked while you are hiking.

Participants should be able to maintain a pace of 2.5 miles per hour. On street parking is available but allow enough time to locate a space. Curbside parking is available adjacent to the park on streets too numerous to mention. This is a very dog friendly hike.
