James River Hikers needs $358 annually to pay the Meetup company and additional funds for our gravestone cleaning project.

The funds come from donations and participation in the Kroger Community Awards Program.

Donations, while certainly are not required, are welcome and can be made via VENMO.

Use the VENMO account Dennis@Dennis-Bussey, and include "JRH donation" in the note section.

Donations via check can made to James River Hikers and sent to:
Dennis Bussey c/o James River Hikers, 160 Kendal Drive, Cottage 1008, Lexington, VA 24450.

James River Hikers is an Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. That allows you to claim donations to James River Hikers as a tax deduction.

Below the dotted line you'll find the story and rationale of how we decided to get involved with money.

********************************************************************
James River Hikers began as a “money-free zone” meaning that we did not (and still don't) have a membership fee nor charge for attending our Meetups.

That has changed as we are now involved in donations. Here’s why.

Our early years of involvement with the City of Richmond’s James River Park System volunteering to paint, stain, repair and build trail bridges, paint over graffiti and restore historical sites cost money that the city did not have.

The reality is that the James River Park as it exists today with its trails and supporting structures was put together primarily by volunteers and philanthropists.

The money for the materials for the work we have done came from personal donations.

It's important to understand is there is no requirement that you give any of your money for anything.

I welcome your questions and comments and request you direct them to me personally at dennisbussey@me.com or 858-774-4943.
