Nov 15, 10 AM - Riverview Cemetery to the Potterfield Bridge
Details
Today's five mile hike will begin and end in the Riverview Cemetery.
We will access the North Bank Trail from Riverview Cemetery and follow it eastbound to Brown's Island where we will cross the river on the Potterfield Bridge. After viewing the city skyline from the Manchester Overlook we will head west on Buttermilk Trail, East, and access Belle Isle to make our return to the North bank Trail and Riverview Cemetery.
This hike will be over varying terrain with few significant elevation changes. Participants should be able to maintain a pace of twenty-five minutes per mile, ford a stream, negotiate rocks, tree roots, fallen trees, damp trail conditions, stairways, rustic trails, steep ascents, low hanging vines and branches, culverts, uncertain footing on hills, spider webs, river rocks, scorpions, birds of prey, migratory waterfowl, and reptiles, and possess the ability to recognize toxic plants in season. The Potterfield Bridge decking is not suitable for some dog traffic so the best plan is to leave them home this time.
As with all hikes, this one will begin at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you are unfamiliar with the meet up location, add a few minutes to your travel schedule so you can find us. If you need directions, click on "Riverview Cemetery" just above "How To Find US" in the event description to display a large interactive map.
