" Realizing the Potential of the A in Jamstack "

For much of Jamstack's short history, developers focused on the J for JavaScript. However, the superpower of the Jamstack lies in its use of APIs. APIs are what power the dynamic content and interaction at both build-time and on the client. Without APIs, JavaScript is just left for just fancy UI interactions. Still, the Jamstack hasn't always given APIs their due and using them in Jamstack apps often comes with lots of boilerplate and burdens, and with server side logic that detracts from the serverless message of Jamstack. In this talk we'll look at how APIs can become the first-class citizens in Jamstack that they deserve to be.

We will demonstrate how, using StepZen, a Jamstack develop can very easily provision her own API endpoint against multiple APIs that speak REST, GraphQL, SQL and NoSQL, and how this endpoint, available as a service, eliminates the need for most server side logic.

Anant Jhingran is the CEO of StepZen, a startup that focuses on delivering "One API for all the data that a developer needs." Prior to StepZen, his cofounders and he built out Apigee, an API management company that was acquired by Google in 2016.
