WCPL webinar: The Turbulent Times of Jane Austen

Wake County Public Libraries offers this free virtual program as part of the celebration of Jane Austen's 250th birthday this year!

Author Helena Kelly joins us to discuss her new book The Worlds of Jane Austen: The Influences and Inspirations Behind the Novels. Austen lived during a time of immense social change when new ideas about democracy, freedom, slavery, and women’s rights were spreading like wildfire. Kelly will show us what a close textual reading can teach us about the time period in which Austen lived! This program's presentation will be focusing on the details behind Austen's most famous novel, Pride and Prejudice.
