What we’re about
I am a continuous student of the human character. I started reading Jane Austen when I was 11 years old, and have found that her no-nonsense approach to the foibles, ridiculousness and contradictions of human behavior and philosophy offers endless amusement. As a female, a mother and committed humanist, I believe that we are living through a time that calls for the use of discernment and questioning conformity. Jane Austen’s sister, Cassandra, did not burn all of Jane’s letters for nothing. To all of those women in mid-life, I welcome your opinionated, critical and humorous exchange. After all, who does not have a Mr. Collins, an aunt Norris, a Willoughby or a Mr. Shepherd in their current circle?
