[Bellevue] Crossroads Board Game Meetup

Welcome to the Crossroads Board Game in Japanese/English, hosted by Japan Seattle ABC Network!

This event is part of our cultural programming focused on building meaningful connections between Japan and Seattle through Academics, Business, and Culture (ABC).
This event is designed for:

• English speakers learning Japanese
• Japanese speakers learning English

Whether you’re here to practice your target language, learn about culture, or make new friends, we’re happy to have you join us.

## EVENT PURPOSE & FORMAT

This is a casual conversational/language study event. The primary goals are:

• Build the basic skill set needed to start learning Japanese (Hiragana, Vocabulary, greeting)
• Practicing the language through a set of predefined phrases and real conversation
• English learners to practice their English
• Encouraging cross-cultural exchange
• Creating a respectful, inclusive community space

Feel free to bring study materials or discussion topics if relevant.
There is no strict minimum skill level required.

## EVENT STRUCTURE

Depending on the number of attendees, we split into 3 to 4 groups based on Japanese skill level needed. We have a good variety of games so hopefully you find games that interests you. You are free to move to between groups to try out different games. We guarantee at least one Japanese native or fluent person supporting the introductory level. Don't hesitate to ask any question. We are all here to learn (including the hosts)!

We’ll be heading to Applebee’s (or somewhere similar) after the event (08:45PM~). If you have any questions about the language, the culture, the games we played, or just want to hang out, this is a great opportunity to do so.

## REGISTRATION/ATTENDANCE & FOOD POLICY

You’re welcome to bring food from any vendor inside or around the perimeter of Crossroads Mall, but please don’t bring food from outside the mall, as we may be charged a fee.

Due to a high number of no-shows and last-minute dropouts, we will be asking everyone to check in at the event. We all have a lot going on in our lives, and a single instance won’t affect you. Repeated offenses, however, will be flagged systematically. Once flagged, your spot may be given to other attendees. We will attempt to notify you if this happens. Thank you for your understanding.

All participants are expected to treat fellow attendees with respect and cultural sensitivity.

If any behavior makes others feel uncomfortable or violates community standards, a host may ask the participant to leave the event.
Please remember: English and Japanese speakers may have different communication styles and cultural expectations. Kindness, patience, and courtesy are essential to a positive exchange.

本イベントは、日本とシアトルを Academics（学び）・Business（専門性）・Culture（文化） の3つの柱を通じてつなぐことを目的としている Japan Seattle ABC Network が運営する文化交流プログラムの一環です。このミートアップは、

• 日本語を学んでいる現地の方
• 英語を学んでいる日本語を話せる方

を対象とした、日本語・英語の交流イベントです。
語学練習はもちろん、新しい出会いや交流の場としてもお気軽にご参加ください。

## イベントの目的 & 形式

このイベントは、カジュアルな会話・語学学習を目的とした集まりです。主な目的は以下の通りです。

• 日本語基礎スキルを身につけること（ひらがな、語彙、あいさつ など）
• 準備されたフレーズや実際の会話を通して日本語を練習すること
• 英語を勉強されている方の会話の場
• 文化交流
• 誰もが安心して参加できるコミュニティづくり

共有したい学習教材や話したいトピックを自由に持ち込みください。
参加条件は特にございません。

## イベントの流れ

参加人数や日本語レベルに合わせて3から4のグループに分かれます。
さまざまなゲームをご用意していますので、興味のあるものが見つかると思います。
グループ間の移動は自由にできるので、いろいろなゲームをぜひ試してみてください。
初級レベルのグループには、必ず日本語ネイティブまたは流暢なサポート担当が1名以上つきます。
質問があれば遠慮なく聞いてください。主催側も含めみんなで一緒に学びましょう！

イベント後は、Applebee'sなどに行く予定です（8:45から）。言語や文化、ゲームについて質問する良い機会になると思います。交流の機会としてもどうぞ。

## 参加登録 & 飲食ポリシー

Crossroads モール内や敷地内の飲食店からの食べ物は持ち込み可能ですが、モール外からの食べ物の持ち込みはご遠慮ください。モールから罰金を課せられる可能性があります。

無断キャンセルや直前のキャンセルが多いため、イベント当日はチェックインをお願いします。 1回だけのキャンセルで影響が出ることはありませんが、繰り返しキャンセルが続く方はシステム上で管理され、参加枠が他の参加希望者に譲られる可能性があります。 その際はできる限り事前に連絡いたします。 ご理解のほど、よろしくお願いいたします。
