Spirited Away — the music of Joe Hisaishi

Step into the enchanting world of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli during an intimate chamber concert by Simple Music Ensemble World at Kompaszaal Amsterdam.

The focus is on the music of Joe Hisaishi, one of the most recognizable composers of contemporary film music and best known for his long-standing collaboration with Studio Ghibli.

His soundtrack for Spirited Away connects vulnerability and lightness, tension and tenderness, mystery and melancholy. In chamber music arrangements, the familiar themes take on a new, more direct, and intimate sound. Piano and strings bring the music very close: from almost weightless melodies to powerful emotional climaxes.

This evening opens SME House Amsterdam by Kompaszaal — a new recurring concert series by Simple Music Ensemble World in Amsterdam, featuring classical music, minimal music, film music, and special crossover programs in an intimate setting. An evening for lovers of Miyazaki, chamber music, and film music — and for everyone who wants to experience live music up close.

Simple Music Ensemble World is an international chamber music project that brings together professional musicians, unique venues, and carefully curated programs.
