About us
Járnvík Vikings is a Viking community group operating under the Sons of Norway - Norden Lodge #2 that's focused on fellowship, outdoor activities, historical crafts, Nordic culture, and building strong local connections through shared experiences. We are a relaxed, community-oriented group for people interested in Viking history, Scandinavian heritage, traditional skills, hiking, leathercraft, storytelling, cultural events, and gathering with like-minded people in a welcoming environment.
You do not need to be an expert on Vikings, Norse mythology, or Scandinavian history to join us. Whether you are deeply interested in Nordic culture or simply looking for a strong community and new experiences, there is a place for you here.
Our activities may include:
• Group hikes and outdoor adventures
• Leatherworking and traditional crafts
• Cultural and cooking nights
• Festival and community events
• Viking-inspired social gatherings and group activities
• Historical discussions and storytelling
• Shield wall and other educational, interactive demonstrations
• Volunteer opportunities and community building
Járnvík Vikings encourages historically inspired clothing and gear at some events, but we are not a strict reenactment group. Our focus is on community, culture, learning, and shared experiences rather than perfection or exclusivity.
The group is supported by Sons of Norway – Normanna Hall and welcomes anyone interested in helping build a strong, positive, and welcoming community.
