Isn't ETL just CRUD? Data Engineering for Java Devs
🧑💻 Speakers:
Matthias Schrabauer is a passionate software engineer with 10 years of experience in building enterprise software.
His talk will be about sharing data between microservices. This can be challenging — especially when you want to keep services independent but still need access to each other’s data. In this talk, he’ll go through some common patterns for handling this. He’ll then show how he's solving it in his current project using Kafka Streams and its state stores, which keep data local and up to date.
Markus Fischer grew up as your typical backend Java developer in the German and Austrian banking industry. He loved type safety, lambdas, and the JVM running cross platform to host his beautiful REST APIs. He then moved into cloud infrastructure (can we still call it DevOps?). Due to the invisible hand of capitalism, Markus ended up a sarcastic Data Platform Architect preaching modern software development to data people and parsing CSVs, thinking back to the good old days of type safety.
Data is the new oil. Markus will show you how to refine the digital dinosaur juice, introduce key concepts of data engineering, and rant about how, in the end, everything is just a Turing machine anyway.
