Talk: 'Wired differently'
Intro:
11 years ago, well into my career as a software engineer, I was diagnosed with ADHD. The diagnosis was a missing puzzle piece that explained why I was facing some persisting challenges at work and in life, as well as some "superpowers" that I had always taken for granted.
This led me to wonder: how can I share these experiences with other neurodivergent colleagues, particularly those earlier in their careers, and how can I help my employer to tap into the full potential that a neurodiverse workplace offers?
What I'll cover in this talk:
- A personal introduction and back story.
- A brief explainer on what neurodivergence is (ADHD, autism, etc).
- What an Employee Resource Group (ERG) is.
- How we set up an Employee Resource Group for neurodiversity at Fastned and what its goals are.
- Why your company should set one up too. :)
