JavaTalks 7

Details
We are excited to announce that our JavaTalks 7 event will be hosted at Microsoft Reactor.
Speaker 1 - Simon Waight from Microsoft
Title: Springing into the Azure Cloud
Summary: Spring Cloud from Pivotal has become the go-to microservices hosting platform for Java developers. In 2019 Microsoft announced, in conjunction with Pivotal, that it would launch Azure Spring Cloud which provides a fully-managed Spring Cloud service running on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). The benefit to you? No more infrastructure to manage! In this session, Simon will demonstrate the service by deploying and running Piggy Metrics (https://github.com/sqshq/PiggyMetrics) on it, showing how you can easily integrate with RabbitMQ and MongoDB.

Speaker 2 - Konstantin Abakumov - Software Engineer @ Atlassian
Title: Hidden traps in APIs. When making rest calls can bring your service down.
Summary: When developing APIs we always keep in mind that some users might try to abuse, DDoS or hack in any possible way our precious services. We normally see users as a potential threat to our APIs and not vice versa. In fact, APIs itself might be harmful to their consumers when not used wisely. Slow responses, large payloads, incompliance with protocols and user input in service output - all of these imposes a potential risk of incidents which can leave millions of users unable to access your system. Nevertheless, some of them are often missed and not considered during the client's development. This talk will cover the most common problems which can hit API consumers and the best practices of mitigating these risks.
Please RSVP for the event and share it with your network.
Cheers,
Ross
