Details

Speaker: Thomas Haines

Blockchain is all the rage. However, for those unfamiliar with the crypto behind the currency, it can be hard to tell fact from fiction. In this talk, we will cover; the basic foundations of cryptocurrencies, some areas in which blockchain excels and some where it does not, and the open problems for future of blockchain.

About the speaker:
Dr. Thomas Haines works as a research and development manager at Polyas GmbH. Previously he completed a PhD in cryptography, with a particular focus on its applications in decentralised systems. He co-authored the first research on graph based approaches to cryptocurrencies which resolves fundamental problems in both centralisation and confirmation delays.
