Velkommen til en praktisk workshop med Kotlin.
Morten Nygaard Åsnes (Webstep) og Bjørn Hamre (Ambita) holder en workshop i Kotlin hvor det blir en fin miks av teori og praktiske oppgaver du skal gjøre selv - i Kotlin. Dette er en fin anledning til å få en innføring i Kotlin og få prøvd det du lærer i praksis.
Vi tar sikte på å spise pizza kl 17.00 og starte kl. 17.30. Vi holder på i 2.5 til 3 timer så vi starter derfor litt tidligere enn vanlig. Ta med din egen PC med Kotlin satt opp. Ingen forkunskaper i Java eller Kotlin er nødvendig.
Workshopen vil bli holdt på norsk, men slidene (og beskrivelsen) er på engelsk.
This workshop will give you a hands on experience with programming in Kotlin. Kotlin has grown to be one of the most popular programming languages recent years. In addition to being the primary language for Android development, its interoperability with Java and other JVM languages has made it one of the fastest growing languages for backend development.
In this workshop we will start with basic Kotlin syntax and work our way up to more advances topics with a mix of presentations and hands-on exercises for the participant. We will cover topics like functions, classes, collections, some functional programming concepts (no monads), generics, higher-order functions and more. After this workshop you will know about the most commonly used features/syntax in Kotlin that are needed in your everyday project.
No prior Kotlin experience is required. Participants must bring their own laptop for the exercises with Kotlin installed and a supported IDE of their choice.
The workshop will be split into three parts, each part will start with a short presentation before the participants will solve practical programming exercises in Kotlin.
Morten Nygaard Åsnes works at Webstep as a senior consultant. His current assignment is with TV 2 where he's working with Java and Kotlin. He's previously given presentations at javaBin Bergen on Kotlin and other topics.
Bjørn Hamre is a senior developer at Ambita with more than 20 years experience as a backend developer. He is currently a board member for javaBin and active in javaBin Bergen. Over the last years Bjørn has given many presentations and workshops in local user groups and held workshops at conferences for kids (Booster kids and JavaZone kids).
