IoT powered by MicroProfile - Microservices in practice

We will start off this autumn by having Rustam Mehmandarov and Mads Opheim over for a talk/light show. They will show how Eclipse Microprofile can be used to create micro services in an IoT setting - in this talk by controlling light and colors of a set of Philips Hue light bulbs. If you don't know Microprofile yet, Google will suggest searching for "microprofile vs spring boot". MicroProfile is in short JavaEE/JakartaEE for micro services. It's a baseline platform definition that helps out creating a micro service architecture. RedHat and IBM is among the largest contributors.

Abstract for the talk:

In this talk, we are going to show you what happens when the management lets enterprise Java developers and architects decide how we can control the IoT devices in our new office.

"While it’s easy to figure out why Microprofile is cool, it’s harder to see how to get in into your project."

The idea of this talk is to show a proper use of Microprofile and it’s power combined with good continuous deployment infrastructure patterns and tools on a simple and (possibly funny) example with a simple domain, that can be transferred to more complicated systems and domains in the real life.
