What's New in Spring Boot v3.5 / Apono's Journey to its Microservice Stack

Details

In the May meetup, we have two exciting lectures lined up. Dima from Apono will share their journey exploring three different Java/Kotlin frameworks: Ktor, Quarkus, and Helidon. Yaniv from AT&T will introduce us to the latest version of Spring Boot, discussing its advantages and disadvantages, and will attempt to clarify some of Spring's "black magic".

Thanks to AT&T for sponsoring and hosting the event!

Fresh Springs: Stepping Up with Boot 3.5
Keeping up with the latest framework advancements is essential for building modern, production-ready applications. Spring Boot 3.5 brings exciting updates that streamline development and testing, empowering developers to deliver better software faster.
In this talk, we'll explore some of the best features Spring Boot 3.5 has to offer: new JDBC and HTTP clients with improved APIs, a new annotation that simplifies containerized component testing, and much more.
Learn how these updates can improve your workflow, reduce technical debt, and help you stay ahead in the ever-evolving tech landscape. Don’t miss this opportunity to level up your Spring Boot expertise!

Yaniv Nahoum / AT&T
Yaniv Nahoum is a principal engineer and technical coach at AT&T Israel R&D Center, guiding and helping developers reach their full potential by increasing developer velocity. Yaniv has been working with Java and the JVM for almost two decades - writing code, delivering workshops, and consulting teams on countless JVM-related topics, from generics and concurrency to tuning for latency and throughput in production. He's married and a proud father of two, and when he's not reading, writing, or talking about code - you'll find him running, a lot!

Apono's Journey to its Microservice Framework
Over the past 3.5 years, our team at Apono has transitioned through three different Java/Kotlin frameworks: Ktor, Quarkus, and Helidon.
In this talk, I’ll walk through our journey with each framework:
* What makes it unique
* Why we chose it
* Why it failed us (yes, the part nobody shares)
I’ll also share the technical challenges we faced during these transitions, and the lessons learned along the way.

Dima Ogurko / Apono
Dima Ogurko is software architect at Apono. Over the past 3.5 years, he has been instrumental in designing and refining the company’s architecture, continually seeking optimal tools and frameworks to support growth. Outside of work, Dima enjoys reaching new heights with his kite and cherishing moments with his family.

FOOD
Light food, light drinks, and beer will be served courtesy of AT&T.

RECORDING
We are recording, as always, this meetup and uploading it to our YouTube channel (be sure to subscribe), but please keep in mind asking questions about stuff you don't understand is only possible when you attend the live event.
