Gordon Williams - JavaScript for Hardware with Espruino

A look at some of the challenges of developing with hardware, and how using JavaScript can let you create power-efficient software quickly and easily - with a few demos along the way!

Gordon's been developing the Espruino JavaScript Interpreter (http://www.espruino.com (http://www.espruino.com/)) for over 3 years, during which time he's run two successful KickStarter campaigns. Before that he developed 3D Graphics software, and sold Music Visualisers in his free time (http://www.morphyre.com (http://www.morphyre.com/)).

Jan Jongboom - Fun with JavaScript and sensors

As software developers we literally think 'inside the box'. We treat our code as a precious blob that is only allowed to live inside our computers and phones. But we can do so much more! That phone in your pocket is equipped with a gazillion sensors, and thus able to connect with real life. And on top of that it contains bluetooth, which allows you to connect to other devices... Why not exploit that? It’s time to do crazy stuff with phones!

Bio: Jan Jongboom is working as Developer Evangelist IoT for ARM, and always on the lookout on how to connect the web with the real world. He loves doing unexpected stuff with sensors, flying drones from the browser, and breaking phones. Before ARM he was a core contributor to Firefox OS, and he wrote hundreds of patches to various open source projects. He's also a Google Developer Expert for Web technologies.
