Our 2020 JavaScript Exchange Calendar is coming together nicely and we are excited to announce our August event.

On Tuesday 18th August, JSX will feature talks from automated SaaS company Pento, AI-powered language learning platform Busuu and cloud infrastructure and API provider, Ably.

***

Iman Kalyan Majumdar, Fullstack Engineer @ Pento
"Finding a home for NodeJS in a polyglot architecture"

Companies using multiple programming languages for their products have now become the norm rather than the exception. This talk will outline areas where development teams can identify, leverage and fit NodeJS microservices to unify/streamline products powered by backend services written in multiple languages through analysing some case studies experienced by myself and from other top tech companies around the world.

Bio: Iman is a computer scientist with 3+ yrs of experience as a polyglot software engineer and ex-entrepreneur developing SaaS services using python, go, and javascript.

***

Dani Vicario, Senior Software Engineer @ Busuu
"Astronomical data analysis using NASA's API to explore the most interesting exoplanets using Threejs"

Dani will be speaking about astronomical data analysis and tridimensional visualisation consuming the NASA API. He will use the latest exoplanets data available and then will represent them in 3D space with an artistic twist.

Dani will be using a range of technologies like mongo, node, threejs, html5 canvas, d3 and everything in between. Alien solar systems anyone? Exciting times!

Bio: Dani Vicario is a full-stack dev, speaker, traveller & father. Passionate about generative art, beautiful data visualisation and education since 1999. He specialises in React, Angular, DOM manipulation, Three.js, HTML5 canvas, D3, Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4d and Processing.

Srushtika Neelakantam, Developer Advocate @ Ably Realtime
"Building a realtime multiplayer browser game with Phaser 3 and Ably"

Games innately seem difficult to build and adding a multiplayer angle to them doesn't make it any simpler. With lots of moving pieces involved (quite literally), game development seems like it’s restricted to devs who’ve immersed their feet deep into the holy waters of networking, mathematics, graphics, and the like. However, with the web evolving ever so rapidly and with all the new protocols and libraries that have spanned in recent years, it’s now really simple to get started with building browser-based multiplayer games.
In this talk, we’ll understand the architecture, system design, networking protocols, and caveats to keep in mind if you’d like to get started with building multiplayer browser-based games, by looking specifically at a multiplayer version of the classic retro, Space Invaders.

Bio:
Srushtika Neelakantam is a Developer Advocate for Ably Realtime. She is a passionate tech advocate, with a keen interest in real-time and web technologies. She loves spending time fiddling around with tech and then simplifying that for others by speaking or writing about it. She is a co-author of “Learning Web-Based Virtual Reality” and supports the open web by volunteering with Mozilla's Tech Speaker and Reps programs.
