That Time I Had To Take Over a Code-Base Somebody Else Wrote - (Osher El-Netanany)
You look at the code, and it looks like poetry, but for all the wrong reasons... instead of being clean, focused, and full of meaning - it's abstract, originally out-of-pattern, implied and artistically defying. Code changing hands and creative developers that invent new patterns are a fact of life. In this talk we'll explore a way to use your test-suite to leave a clear pathway to understanding and utilizing your crafty art, enabling it to live on and flourish even after you're long moved to something else.

Osher El-Netanany , a Software Architect, an Agile inthusiastic and a LARPer. Has been doing none-stop JavaScript since 1999, agile since 2006 and nodejs since 2011, and LARPing since 1992. Used to be an extreme cameraphobe but will really be trying to do his best, so be easy....

That Time I've Built a Carousel From Scratch With ReactJS - (Netta Bondy)

Animations in React require translating state into DOM changes, but without really touching the DOM, and without having access to DOM elements, and without JQuery. These are just some of the challenges I dealt with when building a carousel from scratch with React.

Netta Bondy, Front-end developer at Gala Coral, building cross-product, ultra-configurable React components. Co-founder of Extend, an organization dedicated to opening the doors of the tech industry to diverse engineers..

That Time I Learned How To Approach Node.js Performance Issues

  • (Tamar Twena)

In the lecture we will focus on investigating performance issues in Node.js. Node.js is different from other development environments - it operates using a single-threaded event loop. Therefore, the approach for solving performance issues in Node.js is a little bit different.

I will talk about how I started to investigate performance problems in Node.js, give examples of profiling tools that helped me in the process, present several problems I solved, and dive a little bit into background jobs in Node.js - and how to improve their performance.

Tamar Twena , a Software Architect and Team Leader at EdgeVerve systems.
In the past, Tamar led a team of performance experts at NCR Retail and was a solution architect in Personetics.
has a decade of software engineering experience in various technologies: server side, big data, mobile and and web technologies.
Her main focus currently is developing enterprise banking systems as well as social networks and mobile development.

That Time I Tried To Figure Out How The Heck Browsers Work

  • (Amit Zur)

Browsers have mysterious ways, especially if it's your first time coding in one. Loading web pages involves so many steps it can be overwhelming. This talk will nostalgically start from the first time I wrote JavaScript, and walk through quirks, tips and trick I discovered along the 10 years that passed since.

Amit Zur, a freelance frontend developer with a passion for happiness in code and design. Key interests include UX, DX, productivity, education and using technology for doing good and connecting people. He’s a strong believer in community, and these days he organizes Goodness Squad, a place for developers to contribute to open source projects.

That Time I've Used Webpack, Common Chunks and Multiple Entry Points - (Noa Kolodro)

Did you ever use Webpack to bundle a multiple modules project? I will show you how we managed to created a light, ready to run, minimum duplicated code packaging, using Webpack awesomeness!.

Noa Kolodro, a frontend developer.
