Javascript of things
Details
July is here and with it the heat!
So we decided to bring the temperatures down...
After a few 5-speakers events we are kicking it back with 3 cool speakers who will blow your mind.
All you have to do is RSVP, come for free and enjoy great talks about IoT.
PLEASE UPDATE YOUR RSVP IF YOU CAN'T COME!!
JavaScript IoT Tapas - (Uri Shaked)
Smart home? Robotics? Wearables? Drones? JavaScript’s got you covered!
In this talk, we will see several demos of JavaScript IoT APIs, libraries and smart IoT devices that can actually be programmed with JavaScript.
Live coding and fun guaranteed!
Uri Shaked, a Google Developer Expert for Web Technologies. He created the popular angular-moment open source module and regularly speaks about Web and IoT-related technologies in conferences and meetups. Among his interests are reverse engineering, hardware hacking, building 3D-printed robots and games, playing music, and Salsa dancing.
Node-RED: Introduction - (Oren Zomer)
Keeping your Request-Response api design is easy.
Building a simple publish-subscribe backend is OK.
But how can you maintain the a good design in the world of IoT?
Node-RED is an open-source Node.JS platform for wiring together hardware devices, APIs and online services in new and interesting ways.
The lecture will include Live Coding!
Disclaimer: I am not formal member of the IBM's Node-RED core team, but loves this project anyways.
Oren Zomer, a Firmware-Developer, Backend-Developer & CTO at Awear Solutions (yep, a pretty strange combination).Works a lot with Bluetooth-Low-Energy (both iOS and Android) and contributed some popular node-red subpackages (node-red-contrib-mongodb2, node-red-contrib-unsafe-function).
Formerly a Python developer, but in the last 3 years has converted to Node.JS.Believes that a good coder is like a good plumber - it's about knowing the toolbox and not just hitting everything with a hammer.
JavaScript Robotics with NodeBots and React-IoT - (Vladimir Novick)
Does the idea of controlling drones via JavaScript excite you? What about physical devices running JavaScript? And what about the same code used in the browser and reused on a physical device? All this and much more in this talk.
We will talk about JavaScript Robotics with Nodebots and how you can not only control your drone (live demo included) but actually create your own smart home with plain JavaScript.
Finally, I will conclude with showcasing a project of mine, react-iot. It makes it easy to build React components for physical devices.
Vladimir Novick, a Software Architect and Senior Consultant at CodeValue. He brings with him years of experience in the JavaScript ecosystem. Being the ReactJS Israel meetup Co-Organizer, he absolutely loves ReactJS and try to bring it to the masses, while on his daily job writing in React, Redux, ES6/7. Vladimir previously worked in the sports, gaming, and video industries as Lead Architect & Team Leader.
