Modern TypeScript Like It’s 2025

Details

TypeScript keeps evolving, and keeping up means using new patterns that make your code stronger, safer and more flexible.

In this meetup, we’ll dive into practical, lesser-known features that can simplify tricky logic, catch bugs early, and boost productivity—all while keeping your code clean.

Whether you're already using TypeScript or just getting into it, you’ll walk away with fresh techniques to level up your projects

Mark your calendars!

Did You Hear The News? Why Go? Why Now?
(Ariel Shulman)

This week Microsoft announced some exciting news- TypeScript is being ported to GO and we can expect it to be finished this year!

Why was this change needed? What is the problem with TypeScript? What unusual strategies did the TypeScript team choose?
And what can we expect in the future?
In a brief 5 minute talk we’re going to answer all of the above!

Ariel Shulman, a Full Stack Developer Illumex.ai.
A Nextjs+React+Typescript enthusiast(!) and also really likes NestJS, Neo4j, FastAPI, PostgreSQL.

Friend or Foe? TypeScript Security Fallacies
(Liran Tal)

So TypeScript has become the de facto industry standard for developing web applications these days and promising type security, but do developers properly understand the role it plays in securing applications and does the type safety promise hold true in face of real-world security threats?

Developers often mistake dev-time vs runtime security as well as confuse test cases for security guard rails.
Can TypeScript actually provide you with code security benefits?

In this session we will explore insecure TypeScript patterns, learn how HTTP parameter pollution vulnerabilities impact TypeScript code bases and witness first-hand how attackers employ prototype pollution attacks that cripple codebases even when developers use schema validation libraries like Zod.
Through hands-on coding we’ll hack a TypeScript application and learn security best practices.

Liran Tal, a lead DevRel & Secure Coding advocate who is also an experienced multi-disciplinary full stack software engineer specializing in building web applications with a broad experience of Linux engineering, and deeply passionate about open source software.

Unleashing TypeScript’s Hidden Compiler Powers
(Omri Lavi)

What if TypeScript wasn’t just for type safety?
What if we could bend the rules and use it to catch performance issues before they even reach production?

In this session, we’ll explore how we used TypeScript’s compiler in an unconventional way—calling it dynamically in tests to detect inefficient Redux selectors.
This is a story about thinking outside the box, repurposing tools in creative ways, and solving real-world problems with TypeScript in ways you wouldn’t expect.

Omri Lavi, a Tech Lead at monday.com, specializing in developer tools, client architecture, and optimizing workflows to enhance developer velocity.
He focuses on scalable solutions that improve code quality and streamline development, with deep experience in frontend testing and best practices.

Building Word Games with Advanced TypeScript (live)
(Shay Davidson)

A live demonstration on how to use advanced TypeScript typing features such as Infer, string templates, conditional distribution, and more in order to build fun word games such as Wordle in TypeScript.

It'll be an act of building something fun in order to learn useful advanced concepts you can use in your day-to-day TypeScript applications.

~~~
Shay Davidson, builds cool stuff at Lemonade as a principal engineer, working across the stack with a focus on frontend and AI projects.
In his spare time, he develops web games, blending programming skills with interactive design.
