Talk 1: React Native Redux State Management
React Native application can be simple and easy to develop at first but when you start adding new features you realize code getting messy and cluttered. Too many states to manage and lots of application logic all over the place. Redux is a stable state management solution that can be easily integrated into React Native application. Redux makes your code much more maintainable and extensible. Redux uses principles that we already know, but wraps them around in a simplistic and usable library. Although Redux is a powerful state management solution, we need to use it with caution and remember that not all states belong in the Redux store. In this session we will learn what Redux is all about, common Redux pitfalls, and a demo of integrating Redux with a simple React Native application.
Speaker Bio:
Mohan Sundaram is an iOS developer since 2010 currently working at Citrix contributing to build secure mobile enterprise apps. He is passionate about learning how things work and using technology to build and enhance products. For the last couple of years ReactNative became one of his favorite technology, learning to build complex hybrid ReactNative apps and exploring different ways to take advantage of RN capabilities in Citrix products.
Talk 2: Introduction to Gestures in React Native
The gesture responder system manages the lifecycle of gestures in your app. A touch can go through several phases as the app determines what the user's intention is. For example, the app needs to determine if the touch is scrolling, sliding on a widget, or tapping. This can even change during the duration of a touch. There can also be multiple simultaneous touches.
PanResponder reconciles several touches into a single gesture. It makes single-touch gestures resilient to extra touches, and can be used to recognise simple multi-touch gestures.
In this session We will be getting to know how to add gesture handling to a React Native app using PanResponder API.
