"Getting started with Rust and Web Assembly." Robert Masen (https://github.com/freemasen)

Robert will be walking you through a high-level overview of the Rust programming language, Web Assembly and how you can use the two in your browser projects today.

This talk will be broken into two sections.

The first section will be a high-level overview of both Rust and Web Assembly. Robert will cover how to set up your environment, how to write "hello world" in Rust, how to modify that into a usable Web Assembly module, and how to use that module from JS.

The second section will include a deeper look into Rust by walking you through a small, contrived example project. This project will use some of the more advanced features available in Rust as well as how to import and use a Javascript function into Rust.

7:45/8:00 - Free time to discuss, network, hack, etc.

Location Notes:
Guest parking lot alongside the building on 5th Street and 5th Avenue. If you choose to park here, sign in and out with the security guard at the main entrance. There is also ample street parking around the building.

You will want to enter the building on the north side (opposite of the rail tracks). Signs will direct you to the elevators and the 6th floor. The building will lock up at 8pm and at that time it will be an exit only situation.
