JavaEE.Next(): Java EE 7, 8, and Beyond
Java EE 7 is officially ready to ship. The next version of Enterprise Java is going to be a major release full of brand new features. It is scheduled to be released over the next few weeks.
There are a huge number of new features and updates included in this major release of Java EE.
Reza Rahman, Java EE/Glassfish evangelist, from Oracle looks into the key changes the NYJavaSIG community can expect. Some of the changes discussed include retiring EJB 2 entity beans and JAX-RPC, greater alignment with CDI, WebSocket/HTML5 support (JSR 356), a standard API for JSON processing (JSR 353), the next version of JAX-RS, a long-awaited overhaul of JMS, Concurrency utilities for JEE, Java Batch processing and much, much more.
Not only that, but there are also recent details on Java EE 8 with cloud support that will be discussed.
Of course, we will have our giveaways courtesy of JRebel (http://zeroturnaround.com/software/jrebel), Webucator (http://www.webucator.com/), SonarGraph (http://www.hello2morrow.com/products/sonargraph), JetBrains (http://www.jetbrains.com/) (IntelliJ) and Retrospective (http://www.retrospective.centeractive.com/).
