Tracking Trains in Real Time Using Stream Processing in Apache Kafka and Storm

Details
Description: Trains are a logical aggregation of cars and locomotives, they do not exist by themselves. Locomotives have GPS sensors, thus tracking the location of trains involves tracking the location of its associated locomotives. GPS messages flow from a locomotive into Apache Storm where they are processed and enhanced with location data that is relevant to operations. Arrival and departures are calculated based on locomotives GPS intersecting predefined GIS Geofences. Additionally GPS messages are correlated to other messages to improve data quality.
