Marcus began his career playing with the Ray Charles band, co founding the Tribe record label and recording the famous Gemini II album.
Belgrave collaborated with top jazz icons such as Charles Mingus, Max Roach, McCoy Tyner, and Dizzy Gillespie. He also worked with singers including Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, and Sammy Davis Jr.. Belgrave was known for his rhythmic style and dedication to Detroit's musical development.
