Deeply steeped in the generations of great Jazz and Blues that centers the rich musical legacy of Detroit, Shahida Nurullah is one of the motor city’s premier and most treasured jazz vocalists.
Her outstanding musical intelligence is vibrantly reflected through a versatile repertoire that includes blues, jazz, samba, bossa nova, show tunes and more. The New York Times lauded her performance with Allen at New York’s Knitting Factory and she is a recipient of the Spirit of Detroit Award. She has wowed audiences from her native Detroit to New York to Paris to Amsterdam and further. Get ready for a set of songs from the 60’s and 70’s that you haven’t heard “in forever.” It’s going to be fun!

Summer Events will be held on the Fountain Terrace (by the dolphin fountain) so bring your lawn chair, sunscreen, water and enjoy. If rain, the event will be held in the 1st Floor conference room at the rear of the lobby.
These events are usually very popular so get there before the 6pm start. FREE parking in the library parking lot. $5 suggested admission.
