Inaugural Meet and Greet with Optional Overnight

Welcome everyone to the new Jeeps Are For Girls (And Boys Too) Adventure Group!

Heather has decided to step down after years and years of wonderful service to this group and four friends, who all met in this group, couldn't bear to see it just go away. So we decided to step up and build on the foundation that Heather built and keep this wonderful group moving forward!

To that end we are planning a very chill run and optional overnight at Desert Pass Campground (AKA Mormon Road Campground).

We will be meeting at the Desert National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center at 8:30 AM on Saturday, May 4th for a prompt departure at 9:00 AM.

Come out and meet most of the new leadership team (one person will be out on her own adventure and is unable to join us).

I don't think this run needs any description, but the Morman Well Road is a rather long and relatively well-maintained road that crosses the Desert National Wildlife Range from Corn Creek Road to the 93 South of Coyote Springs. Although our run will start at the desert floor with the standard scrub brush landscape, we will pass through an amazing area known as the Yucca Forest that is dense with Yucca plants as far as the eye can see! We will continue on through the tall limestone cliffs of Peek-A-Boo Canyon and climb up to 6,200 feet to the campground full of Ponderosa Pines.

We will stay overnight enjoying the company and comradery of like-minded people and hopefully leave the next afternoon, probably after lunch, full of new ideas for new adventures!

A few one-off little notes:

This group, although it has "Jeep" in its name, is open to all makes of off-road vehicles.

You do not have to meet us at 9:00 AM, you are free to join us at the campsite at your leisure. You do not have to stay overnight if you don't want to. Meet us the next morning for breakfast if you want! However, we kindly request you RSVP and let us know your plans and when we can expect you in the comments.

Desert Pass Campground consists of six (6) primitive campsites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. All free of charge and include vault toilets. No spots are reserved or guaranteed.

You are responsible for all your equipment and food.

ETIQUETTE

We will practice responsible trail and campsite etiquette at all times. No driving off trail, no littering, practice LNT, no lightbars or loud music at the campsite.

COMMUNICATIONS

We will utilize FRS radios for our events. We will decide the channel at the time of the event.
