Monthly Meeting-Misinformation and Disinformation in the Information Age
Details
Join us for the Jefferson Humanists' monthly chapter meeting with the presentation, When the garden grows, so do the weed: Misinformation and Disinformation in the Information Age by Krista Kafer.
It is estimated that there is 402.74 million terabytes of data created each day. In a time when information can be created, shared and re-shared online over and over and over, how are we able to determine what is information, what is misinformation and what is purposeful disinformation? Even when we are critical thinkers, we can be confused about what is factual and what is made up. Denver Post columnist, Krista Kafer will help us understand the issues related to this topic and help us to separate the wheat from the chaff and from the weeds.
Krista Kafer is an education policy expert and Denver Post columnist who writes on topics such as global warming, liberal rhetoric, and end-of-the-world predictions. She is the executive director of the Colorado Future Project, a project of the Independent Women's Forum. She is an adjunct professor of communication, journalism, and political science, and a frequent radio and television commentator.
