In September, Lisa Forbes offers a presentation that describes how human nature, dopamine, and trauma combine to ensure that the more things change, the more they stay the same. She will share her journey from trauma to empowerment, a truly inspirational story, and how trauma resolution is a key piece of criminal justice reform.

Lisa Forbes is a speaker and the principal of Lisa Forbes Speaks. She is also the author of the book I Can Take It From Here: A Memoir of Trauma, Prison, and Self-Empowerment. (https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/706834/i-can-take-it-from-here-by-lisa-forbes/) She has been the Colorado Co-Coordinator for Braver Angels (https://braverangels.org/), a national organization dedicated to political depolarization. Lisa also served as the Communications Director for the League of Women Voters of Colorado. She was the Speakers Bureau Chair for Toastmasters International District 26, which covers Colorado, Wyoming, and western Nebraska. Her focus is on the need for national-level policies and programs aimed at trauma resolution as the foundation for crime prevention, reducing recidivism, and increasing the quality of human life.
