1st Annual JH Volksmarch - Clear Creek, Big Easy Trailhead

Details
Jefferson Humanists are happy to present our First Annual Volksmarch, a fun outing where you can hike with other humanists, followed by a picnic. (Bring your own sandwich, etc. We will have chips, fruit and iced tea to share.)
Everyone who contributes a small donation at the event of $1 each will get a commemorative prize, a Jefferson Humanists shot glass. (Cash only please.)
A volksmarch is a noncompetitive 3.1 mile (5 km) or 6.2 mile (10 km) walk. It's not a pledge walk, it's not a race, it is a fun activity you do with a club, with your family, with your pet, or all by yourself. Volksmarching got its name from its origins in Europe. Today there are thousands of volkssport clubs around the world, allied in the International Volkssport Federation, the IVV. They are popular in Germany, where you can find one or more every weekend throughout the year.
We will hike part of the Peak-to-Plains trail on Clear Creek, starting and ending at the Big Easy Trailhead and then will have lunch at one of the picnic tables along the shoreline. The trail is paved and pretty easy for all levels of ability.
Big Easy Trailhead is located on highway 6, about 9 miles West of the highway 93 junction in Golden. This parking lot can get busy in the summer, so plan to arrive before 9 am and look for the Jefferson Humanists sign.
Bring plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat. Though we are starting early and there is some shade, it can get hot, depending on the weather.
We hope you will join us to kick off the First Annual JH Volksmarch!
