Jefferson Humanists is reviving Movie Time! Prior to Covid, we used to get together and watch movies together every month. We are bringing this event back and will be meeting on a Saturday afternoon. That will allow us extra time so we can discuss the movie afterwards.
----------------------------------------

For our April movie, we will be watching, Agora, which tells the story of Hypatia of Alexandria.

Step back into 4th-century Alexandria, as the Roman Empire is teetering on the brink of profound, violent change. At its heart stands Hypatia (Rachel Weisz), a brilliant astronomer, philosopher, mathematician, and teacher, a woman of unparalleled intellect and passion in a world increasingly consumed by religious fervor and political upheaval.

Agora is more than a historical drama; it's a deeply moving and emotional journey into the very soul of humanity's quest for truth, reason, and understanding. Witness Hypatia's unwavering dedication to science and rational thought as the world around her descends into chaos, threatening to extinguish the very flame of enlightenment she champions.

Experience a powerful story of humanity as the world changes around them challenging their attitudes about slavery, hope and the loss of reason.

We'll watch the movie together and then spend some time afterwards discussing it.

We will provide popcorn, movie candy and drinks. Please RSVP to this Meetup or email Movies@jeffersonhumanists.org so we are sure to set up enough seats. Due to space constraints, attendance is limited to the first 16 people who RSVP.

This event is sponsored by Jefferson Humanists.
