Join Jefferson Humanists for our monthly program titled, Election Security: Making Sure Your Vote Is Counted
by Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder, Amanda Gonzalez.
Colorado's election system is widely considered one of the best in the country—a system other states strive to emulate. County Clerk, Amanda Gonzalez, will provide an overview of how it works, the many layers of security built in to protect your vote, and what's going on behind the scenes to count your ballots. She'll also share information about what's happening nationally with elections, emerging election threats, and answer your questions about voting rights and election integrity. You're encouraged to take a tour of the Jefferson County Election Center before the presentation to see the system in action and get ideas for questions to ask the Clerk. Amanda Gonzalez is an attorney and nationally recognized elections expert who was elected as Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder in 2022. She ran Colorado's largest nonpartisan election effort in 2018 and 2020 as the executive director of Colorado Common Cause and teaches election law at her alma mater, the University of Denver, to Colorado's next generation of election attorneys. She also holds a degree in psychology/cognitive science from Occidental College and was honored by the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association, Colorado Women's Bar Association, and Colorado LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce for her work.
