Join Jefferson Humanists for our monthly program titled, Privacy in the AI Age presented by Ryan Burke.
Ryan Burke will help us learn how artificial intelligence brings new advances in privacy invasion and accelerates existing problems.
We will first establish a common definition of digital privacy, describe how AI is primarily used as a mechanism to compromise privacy, and then present simple personal actions you can take to raise your privacy posture.
Bio: Ryan Burke serves as a part-time chief technology officer for early-stage startups, authoring technical strategy and mentoring software engineering teams. An innovator in cyber-physical solutions,
He was a day one hire at 2lemetry, a software startup acquired by Amazon Web Services in 2015. At Amazon, he shaped outcome-driven engineering with clients like Carrier, Volkswagen, and Fender Musical Instruments. His 2022 book, Intelligent Workloads at the Edge, teaches developers how to launch embedded AI solutions.
In 2026, Ryan founded Coloradans for Digital Freedom, a data privacy advocacy group. In his spare time, Ryan designs tabletop games under the brand Ansible Games.
This program is hosted by Jefferson Humanists, a chapter of the American Humanist Association.
To ensure we set up enough seats, please RSVP on this Meetup or by email to RSVP@jeffersonhumanists.com.

"Can privacy law keep up with rapidly changing digital technologies, such as AI?
I argue that the law can do so, but it must stop putting the onus on individuals to manage their privacy. In the digital age, individuals can’t protect themselves and can’t control their data. Policymakers must stop treating technology differently from everything else. Instead, they must hold the creators and users of technology accountable." - Daniel Solove
“We are building AI law around what machines are allowed to say, when we should also be asking what they were allowed to consume.” - Lawrence Nault
