Movie Time/Book Group Extra: Klara and the Sun
Details
Our JH Book Group discussed the book, Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro back in May 2023 and now it is coming out as a movie, directed by Taika Waititi. We invite all JH Movie Time and Book Group members and any others who are interested to join us in watching this new movie.
We will see an early afternoon showing of the movie on Sunday, November 1st, at the Harkins Theater in Arvada. The showtimes haven't yet been announced, and will be posted as soon as available on this Meetup.
Everyone who RSVPs will get an email or Meetup message with the showtime and seat numbers of your hosts so you can get seats in the same row or nearby. RSVP on this Meetup or email Movies@jeffersonhumanists.org.
After the show, we will go to the nearby Hilton Garden Inn to have a drink and nibbles and discuss the movie. You are encouraged to read the book if you haven't already, so we can compare it to the movie version.
About the Movie
Klara is an artificial intelligence friend who wants nothing more than to find the perfect home. It soon meets Josie, a young woman who has a fraught relationship with her mother. But Klara's innocent wonder and unwavering loyalty soon start to heal the family and bring some light to Josie's complicated world.
Klara and the Sun is directed by Taika Waititi from a screenplay by Waititi and Dahvi Waller based on the novel by Kazuo Ishiguro. The film stars stars Jenna Ortega, Natasha Lyonne, Amy Adams, Steve Buscemi and more.
RSVP to this Meetup or email [Movies@jeffersonhumanists.org](mailto:movies@jeffersonhumanists.org). Only those who RSVP will receive the seat information for where we will be in the theater. It will also help us to reserve enough seats at the Hilton Garden Inn for our after movie discussion.

“Some people worry that artificial intelligence will make us feel inferior, but then, anybody in his right mind should have an inferiority complex every time he looks at a flower.”
