This new trail system opened in the fall of 2019. We will ride everything that is open including the bike only directional downhill only section!
The trails are not directional but your best bet is to ride them clockwise starting with a mellow climb to the west from the lot on Lower Loop. You'll have some additional climbing in the shade as you get to the Upper Loop and a good amount of downhill to look forward to once you get to the ridge.
The Sluice is a 1.3-mile bike-only directional downhill trail. Built specifically for bikes on public lands in Clear Creek County, the trail is the first of its kind on Colorado’s Front Range, an area encompassing the foothills west of Denver.
As the area’s first purpose-built downhill mountain bike trail, The Sluice features a variety of manmade features—the majority of which are not found elsewhere on Front Range trails—including jumps, berms, drops, step-downs, step-ups, technical rock lines and several optional alternative lines to fit your skill level
Dropping 700 vertical fee the Sluice’s main trail is rated blue square/black diamond, with the alt. lines varying in difficulty from black to double-black diamond.

1. Don't be late - We wait for No One (including myself). If you are late it's YOUR responsibility to catch up. We are all racing the sunset.
2. No whining. This is a VOLUNTARY ride. If we are too slow, too fast, it's too hot, too cold, or too windy...please stay home and eat Cheetos instead
3. Show up even if the weather looks bad, most times it looks way worse than it really is. If we can't ride due to weather we will end up heading to a local pub for Happy Hour so your efforts won't be wasted.
