Hello Jenkins Community!

Following up on the great first JAM, we have another amazing presentation on Microservices Architecture and performance testing.

6:00 PM : Opening, Food, Beer & Socializing

6:30 PM : Welcome note from Organizers

6:45 PM : Microservices Architecture and Performance testing strategies - Michael Sage (https://twitter.com/mondosage)

Microservices architectures are emerging everywhere as a natural pattern for optimum software delivery. Where monolithic applications suffer from lengthy and cumbersome build-test-release cycles, microservices allow teams to deliver features quickly and efficiently, realizing the advantages and benefits of continuous delivery.

But microservices require us to rethink how we run load and performance tests. Legacy performance testing tools were designed for the monolithic age and are no longer suitable for modern delivery workflows. We need new tools and new strategies for ensuring that our code is performing as expected, and for quickly diagnosing and fixing problems as soon as they appear.

In this talk we’ll cover:

• Performance testing strategies for microservices; from small-scoped, fast, service-based tests to larger, more complex end-to-end tests

• Open source tools that provide the flexibility to run the right tests at each stage of the delivery pipeline

• Incorporating performance tests into Jenkins workflows and the metrics that matter most for troubleshooting and diagnosing issues

8:30 PM : Wrap-up / Socializing / Q & A
