JBNF is please to host Special Guest Speaker, Moty Hazan, CEO, JDA (http://www.jda.gov.il/Front/ShowCategory.aspx?CatId=47&Lang=EN). Moty Hazan will be giving an overview on the Jerusalem Development Authority (http://www.jda.gov.il/Front/ShowCategory.aspx?CatId=47&Lang=EN) and afterwards will be open to questions regarding how the City of Jerusalem helps its business and industry. Our regular Networking session will follow.

Since Moty Hazan has become CEO, the Jerusalem Development Authority (http://www.jda.gov.il/Front/ShowCategory.aspx?CatId=47&Lang=EN) has launched a series of new economic growth initiatives. The combination of these initiatives supported by grants and benefits is aimed at promoting the growth in the city of Jerusalem and is already reaping fruits.

The initiatives that have been launched are:

The Academic city (http://www.jda.gov.il/front/ShowCategory.aspx?ItemID=2235&Lang=EN) - allowing students to study at several Jerusalem educational (http://www.academicity.org.il/) institutions (http://www.academicity.org.il/) and provides scholarships (http://www.academicity.org.il/?cmd=benefits) Bio-Jerusalem - running a initiative to promote Bio-Med industry in Jerusalem The Jerusalem Center of Design (http://www.jda.gov.il/front/ShowCategory.aspx?ItemID=2234&Lang=EN)- to make Jerusalem a center for design The Jerusalem Film and Television Foundation (http://www.jda.gov.il/front/ShowCategory.aspx?ItemID=2236&Lang=EN) - to encourage film production in Jerusalem, especially on the theme of Jerusalem. Tourism (http://www.jda.gov.il/front/ShowCategory.aspx?ItemID=2237&Lang=EN) - to deelop a strategic plan for tourism in Jerusalem for economic development The Old City (http://www.jda.gov.il/front/ShowCategory.aspx?ItemId=2238&Lang=EN) (http://www.jda.gov.il/front/ShowCategory.aspx?ItemId=2238&Lang=EN)- focusing on the development and conservation of the Old City Incentives and Grants. Living expenses grants for students; Study grants; Housing rent assistance for Hi-tech employees; Municipal tax incentives; Innovation allowances; startup allowances; Grants to life-sciences firms; Allowances for building in the city center; Allowances for upgrading storefronts and window displays.

The JDA (http://www.jda.gov.il/Front/ShowCategory.aspx?CatId=47&Lang=EN) plans and develops the city of Jerusalem with long-term public benefit in view. Projects that strengthen the city’s economy and improve its residents’ quality of life are at the basis of the JDA (http://www.jda.gov.il/Front/ShowCategory.aspx?CatId=47&Lang=EN) activities. One of its leading principals is attaining a balance in the integration of public and private sector activities. The JDA (http://www.jda.gov.il/Front/ShowCategory.aspx?CatId=47&Lang=EN) strives to create improved conditions for private sector development, efficient use of land resources, fine balancing development and reservation, and planning for the future respecting the city’s history and its traditions.

The Jerusalem Development Authority Law – Definitions and Roles
The JDA (http://www.jda.gov.il/Front/ShowCategory.aspx?CatId=47&Lang=EN) is a statutory authority established and operating as a non profit organization. The JDA (http://www.jda.gov.il/Front/ShowCategory.aspx?CatId=47&Lang=EN) special legislation was approved in 1988. This legislation stipulates that the role of the JDA (http://www.jda.gov.il/Front/ShowCategory.aspx?CatId=47&Lang=EN) is to initiate, encourage, plan, coordinate and provide information regarding entrepreneurship and economic activities within the city.
