White space on the margins: the story of Jews and whiteness in America

Details
In this first adult bet midrash offering in 5784 from the Cultivating Anti-Racism team at BK, we invite attendees to reflect on their own family's history in the United States, and what governmental policies helped or hindered their well-being. We will note how some policies had different effects on different groups by how they were categorized racially. We will zoom in on the story of Jewish immigrants in South Dakota, told in the book THE COST OF FREE LAND by Rebecca Clarren, and explore the author's journey toward reparation. All are welcome! Any questions, reach out to [noemi.giszpenc@gmail.com](http://mailto:noemi.giszpenc@gmail.com/).
Weekly Adult Classes will be offered 9:00 - 10:00am every Shabbat morning throughout the school year. Join us, study texts with the Rabbi in a small group setting that encourages discussion, critical thinking, and participation.
Bnai Keshet is an inclusive, welcoming, dynamic, progressive congregation and place of energetic spirituality. Founded in 1978, our name, Bnai Keshet, means Children of the Rainbow. This reflects our vision of a community that includes people of all races, family structures, ages, genders, sexualities, abilities, and educational, class and ethnic backgrounds. We celebrate Jewishness by birth, by choice, the curious, and the returning; single-faith and interfaith families.
