What we’re about

Do you miss the days when Jewish prayer was a dramatic experience as vivid as any film or opera? When the cantor was not a song leader, but a skilled performer who would bring the congregation to tears, as he narrated, offered praise and thanks, and pleaded their case in front of God? When the prayerbook was full of piyyutim, liturgical poems, which brought the congregation right into the divine court room on Rosh Hashana, to the foot of Mt. Sinai on Shavuot, to the Persian royal court on Purim, and much more? Do you want Jewish ritual to mean walking into an all-encompassing living midrash? Then this group is for you! Let's get together to discuss and study, to meet like-minded singles, but also to plan: plan Passover seders and rituals meals for other holidays, and minyanim for various occasions, where we'll bring back the drama and professionalism of classic chazzanut and piyyutim, where the focus will be not to participate in singalongs and hand-clapping, but rather to experience and be transported.
