THE IMPRESSION OF FORMS
All practices have a form that is necessary… both secular and religious…the lawyer and doctor have training and learning in their specific field. So does the priest or monk as well as all lay practitioners. The form is the discipline and each person is drawn to their own desired one. If you want to learn Tai Chi, Psychology or Zazen you must understand the form and work towards mastering it. This is just the physical and intellectual aspect of all disciplines…the great challenge is not getting caught in the psychological trap of the form. Whether it's monk or doctor or senator.
The form is there as a tool and nothing more…if one is unaware of the trap, it will be like extra mouths on an already noisy face.
Join us for an evening of Zazen, (seated meditation) Kinhin (walking meditation) chanting of the Sutras and a Dharma discussion—both in-person and online.
