What we’re about

I am the captain of team Jiggly Bits. We are one of two explicitly sex-positive Hood to Coast teams (that I know of). We first formed a team last year, and we were lucky enough to be picked from the lottery to participate again this year.

Allow me explain briefly what it means to be sex-positive. It means we welcome all sexual orientations and gender identities. And we have a positive, open attitude toward sex itself. That said, we also emphasize consent, boundaries, and feelings of safety and support, and we try our best to practice that in how we communicate and interact. Some, but not all, of us also practice ethical nonmonogamy. I myself have discovered that the lessons I have learned from the sex-positive community apply well to many other (ie, not strictly sexual) aspects of life.

If this sounds good to you, and if you are at all interested in walking, jogging, or running, come join us! You don't need to be fast. We have runners of all ages, body types, and speeds. And we will most likely be doing our group runs around the paths that circle parks like Irving and Woodlawn. All are welcome to just walk and/or run with us, and you can do as many or as few laps as you'd like to.

My partner and I live just a couple blocks north of Irving Park, and we generally run together for around 30 minutes. We will most likely schedule our group runs on weekend mornings, on the later side, maybe even in the early afternoon. There may even be opportunities for 15 to 20-minute evening walks. Dogs are welcome! Exact days and times are TBD.

There's no obligation or expectation that you will join our Hood to Coast team... although we certainly won't discourage you if you are interested;-) I/We would just be happy to be able to enjoy your company!

And I think it's important to represent our sex-positive selves, as individuals and as a group. It feels more important than ever that we join together and do meaningful and fulfilling things, to make the statement that we stand by who we are and we celebrate that, despite the shift in our country toward trying to discount gender identities and sexual diversity, and to seek the kind of benefits that moving one's body, breathing the outdoor air, and socializing can provide, like satisfaction, self-regulation, mood boosting, and supporting one's cognitive health (not to mention all of the physical benefits). We are located in Portland. Come join us!

Thank you for your interest!
