Our 25th Jordan Peterson Bucharest meetup - 20:00, 3rd of November 2023

We will be seeing each other again on the 3rd of November at Lente Arcului at 20:00 - in our usual room downstairs. If by any chance we are not there or you cannot find the room, you can just ask Lente's staff about the Jordan Peterson group or Daniel's booking. They will know where to direct you. Please be on time (to the best of your ability, of course).

We are going to have a discussion on whether we need to update our current setup.

In terms of theme, in our last meetup this summer, we were delving into one of Peterson's online lectures derived from his first book: Maps of meaning. The lecture series is entitled "The architecture of belief lectures" and can be found at https://youtu.be/I8Xc2_FtpHI?t=5576 (time stamp included to where we left things off). If you want to be up to date, please look at the first hour and 33 minutes (not mandatory).
If we decide we are happy to continue with this, we will continue with this video series.

A quick description of the book to set the stage:
"The book describes a theory for how people construct meaning, in a way that is compatible with the modern scientific understanding of how the brain functions. It examines the "structure of systems of belief and the role those systems play in the regulation of emotion", using "multiple academic fields to show that connecting myths and beliefs with science is essential to fully understand how people make meaning."

Please note that you will need to be approved as a member of the FB group before being able to post. Have a bit of patience with this.

Please RSVP so I know the estimated number of people. Bring a friend if you want to. All are welcome. It is not the end of the world if you did not see the video, but it sure helps to understand some references, and more.

Some guidance for the newcomers:

• you can reach Lente Arcului via Carol - Armand Calinescu - Arcului
  once there you can ask for the "mansarda" or attic or Daniel's meeting or Jordan Peterson meeting
• being on time is linked to somehow having to stop for every person that comes in late; but please do not let this be a stopper from you joining if the case arises.
• we pay individually what we order
• you can order food
• all orders will be done at the bar, you can ask the waiters, they are aware of our group. Food is the only thing to be brought up
• there is a recommended donation of 20 RON that will cover having the attic all for ourselves and the meetup subscriptions cost. This is not enforced in any means but helps.
• if you are late, please remember to order first from the bar as to not cause disruptions
• if you come earlier you can just continue your bill;
• if I do not forget, for those ok with the idea, we are going to take some pictures at the end
• after the meetup is over (around 00:00) who so desires is invited for drinks @Zeppelin Pub (3 minute walk)
