Join us for a challenging Tuesday morning fitness hike at River Place Trail in Austin! This hike is designed for women with prior hiking experience and a solid fitness base who are looking for a strong, steady workout in nature and the opportunity to be in community with other women on the trail.

River Place Trail is a well-known, strenuous hike featuring many stair climbs, sustained elevation gain, and 5.6 miles. This hike is not beginner-friendly and is best suited for those who are comfortable with uphill efforts, continuous movement, and extended time on the trail. Our pace will be steady and moderate, with an estimated total hike time of approximately 3 hours.

This hike is less about guided mindfulness practices and more about physical challenge, endurance, and being outdoors in good company!

Women of all ages are welcome, provided the physical demands feel like a good fit.

Logistics & things to bring:

  • Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing suitable for a strenuous hike
  • Plenty of water (more than you think you’ll need)
  • Sturdy hiking shoes with excellent tread
  • Hiking poles, if you use them & want extra support on stairs and descents
  • Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)
  • We will start the hike at the River Place Nature Trailhead at 8903 Big View Drive in Austin at 9AM sharp. We will meet on the sidewalk that runs alongside the lake at the trailhead. There is ample street parking. Please arrive 10 minutes early to secure parking and meet us.

While we love furry friends, we respectfully ask that pets sit this one out so we can maintain the flow and pace of the hike.

This hike is donation-based to support event facilitation and page maintenance (suggested donation: $7–15; never required, always appreciated). Donations can be sent via Venmo to @journeylandandsoul.
