## PICKLEBALL FIELD TRIP -- EAST COUNTY PICKLEBALL COURTS

A Joy Crazy® Pickleball Field Trip is a fun opportunity to play pickleball at a new venue with players you may already know. These outings are social, active, and filled with our signature “I’m Learning” spirit!

WHERE IS THE FIELD TRIP?

At the East County Pickleball Courts (ECPC). Join us!

East County Pickleball Courts is one of Oregon's largest indoor pickleball facilities with 12 lighted and temperature-controlled courts.

The facility is located in Troutdale, Oregon, only two miles from the Columbia Gorge Outlet Mall along I-84 (exit 17). The ECPC building is a former grocery store and has plenty of free parking.

Please Note: participants are responsible for their own transportation. Please use the comment section (below) to ask/offer to carpool and mention what part of town you'll be coming from (e.g. SE/NE, Beaverton, Happy Valley, etc). From the Friendly House**, for example, it is a roughly 25—35 minute drive.

## WHO CAN ATTEND?

This event is open to pickleball players rated 2.5–3.25. If this is your first Joy Crazy event, we'd LOVE to meet you! Additionally, friends or family — age 13 and above — are welcome.

## WHO IS THE HOST?

Shannon Paul, M.Ed., Certified IPTPA Pickleball Instructor, who teaches Joy Crazy® Pickleball and PCC Community Ed Pickleball students at the Friendly House in NW Portland, Oregon, will host the event. She will be joined by her husband Dave and her two adult sons, Parker and Ian visiting from Michigan.

Important Note: This is not a teaching session. We will be playing Open Play style, so all participants must be familiar with:

  • Basic pickleball rules
  • Court etiquette
  • Safety expectations

Our goal is fun, positive play!

### WHAT IS THE FEE?

The cost to attend is $20/person payable to ECPC directly. Additionally, you must sign a liability waiver.

Two options to pay and sign the waiver:

  1. Arrive 15—20 minutes early so you have time to complete ECPC's waiver and pay in-person
  2. Use the following link to sign the waiver and pay online before you go: https://eastcountypickleballcourts.playbypoint.com/users/sign_up

***IMPORTANT NOTE***: Dave already had a "PlaybyPoint" account, which is the same platform ECPC uses, and discovered it was a bit tricky to sign up. If you run into any difficulties signing up online, please call ECPC directly for assistance; they are very helpful: (971) 274-2175.

## HOW WILL GAMEPLAY WORK?

  • 3 courts
  • Open Play format
  • Games played to 11 points (win by 2)

Players will rotate using a paddle-stacking system:

  • Winners' paddles
  • Warriors' paddles

Play will rotate between winner and warrior groups over the two-hour session.

This event is geared toward players rated 2.5–3.25.
If your skill level is higher, you are welcome to attend — we simply ask that you play in a friendly, supportive manner that does not overwhelm newer players.

## WHAT IF I AM A BEGINNER?

If you are currently rated 2.0–2.5, this field trip may not be the best fit. To help determine your skill level, see this easy-to-use player rating guide.

Do you want to learn to play pickleball? Please join the next five-star rated Joy Crazy® "Intro to Pickleball" class. An Intro class is taught each month and includes a FREE Daisy Doubles, hosted game-play session. Click on our Meetup Events page to find the next Intro class.
