You’ve probably heard the old adage “use the best tool for the job” many times, yet we often use the same SQL-based databases to solve a variety of problems. In this talk, we’ll go over a few databases that are less popular, but might be appropriate for certain problems you encounter. We’ll go well past “SQL vs NoSQL” and dig deep into Geospatial, Time Series, Graph, Round Robin, and Columnstore databases, and what they’re good for. We’ll go through the problems faced by an imaginary grocery delivery startup, and how these databases could help.
