Beyond Monitoring: Harnessing Observability for Proactive System Management
Observability encompasses gaining insights into the systems’ internal workings through analysing various data sources. However, the efficient management and processing of observability data have presented significant challenges for organisations.
This talk aims to demystify the observability ecosystem, shedding light on the key components, processes, and best practices in system design and implementation.
By understanding the intricacies, developers can effectively leverage observability & data to improve system performance and enhance troubleshooting processes.
During the talk, we will discuss the key foundational components of observability,
1. Data collection: Sources of observability data, including logs, metrics, traces, and events, discuss their unique characteristics and value in understanding system behavior.
2. Transport and Storage: Various data ingestion techniques, such as push and pull models, and their implications for data pipeline architecture.
3. Analysis: Various querying engines, how they have evolved and, what the future looks like!
Following that, we will also discuss the challenges associated with scalability, reliability, and real-time processing in observability data.
